AI isn’t replacing financial planners. But it is changing what good planning looks like

There’s a lot of debate right now about whether AI can “do” financial planning.

I think most of that debate misses the point.

AI doesn’t replace judgement, empathy, or trust.
It never will.

But it does remove friction from planning.

It helps people:

  • organise complexity
  • see their whole picture clearly
  • explore scenarios they’ve been avoiding
  • articulate what actually matters to them

And when that happens, something interesting follows.

The human conversation gets better.

Not shallower.
Deeper.

Because the planner is no longer stuck:

  • gathering data
  • explaining mechanics
  • defending product choices

Instead, the work shifts to:

  • interpretation
  • challenge
  • reassurance
  • meaning
  • timing
  • judgement

In other words, AI doesn’t replace the human role — it clarifies it.

What is at risk is a model where value is defined as:

“I know things you don’t.”

That was always fragile.

The future belongs to planners who combine:

  • structured thinking
  • ethical independence
  • human presence
  • and the intelligent use of tools

Not AI versus planners.
But AI in service of better planning.

That’s where I see this going.

How do you see AI changing where you add the most value — not whether you add value?

Who the Academy is for

The Academy of Life Planning exists for professionals who can see that:

  • Technical knowledge is no longer enough
  • Product-led models are losing trust
  • Clients want clarity, not complexity
  • The future of planning is ethical, independent, and human

We train planners who are ready to move:

  • from selling solutions → to creating understanding
  • from gatekeeping knowledge → to empowering clients
  • from fragmented advice → to Total Wealth Planning

This isn’t about becoming “more digital”.

It’s about becoming more human — supported by better tools.

Our approach

We don’t teach planners to compete with AI.

We teach them to:

  • use AI to remove friction from planning
  • help clients create their own Total Wealth Plans
  • bring judgement, presence, and meaning where it matters most

One method.
One clear client journey.
One ethical, product-free model.

If this resonates

You may already feel that:

  • the old advice model is creaking
  • clients are asking different questions
  • and the real value of your work sits beyond products and projections

If so, you’re exactly who the Academy is for.
