For the victims. For the silenced. For the ones who still believe in fairness—and keep getting kicked for it.
They say the system is working. But who is it really working for?
Let’s be blunt: the advice industry is at it again. Not content with consumers now having to pay just to have the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) consider a complaint if legal representation is involved—a barrier that already slams shut the door of justice for the most vulnerable—they’re demanding even more.
More protection for themselves. More loopholes to dodge accountability. More ways to crush the very people they claim to serve.
And they’re not whispering this in the backrooms. No, they’re lobbying the Economic Secretary loud and clear: “We can’t grow unless you gut the Ombudsman’s powers further.”
Let that sink in.
They’re saying growth—their profits—matter more than justice. More than your rights. More than your dignity. They want a deregulation free-for-all where complaints are brushed aside, redress is slashed, and your voice? Silenced.
A System Rigged for Failure
Remember, this is an industry already ranked among the least trusted. Yet instead of looking in the mirror and asking why, they double down—blaming consumer complaints for their woes, not their own misconduct. And regulators, often too cosy with the firms they oversee, nod along.
But here’s the truth no one in their mahogany boardrooms wants to face:
You cannot restore trust by crushing the people you’ve wronged.
You cannot rebuild confidence by bulldozing the very protections that make the system fair.
And you cannot call yourself “ethical” while lobbying to strip away the few teeth the watchdog still has.
Where Are the Victims?
Who’s speaking for them? For the pensioner mis-sold a policy that drained her life savings. For the young family left in ruin after trusting “professional advice” that was anything but. For the countless small claims swept under the carpet because fighting back is too expensive, too daunting, too hopeless.
These are not faceless statistics. These are people. People who placed their faith—and their future—in a system designed to serve them, only to discover too late it was engineered to exploit them.
Here’s the Hard Truth
Until this industry grows a conscience—until it starts acting with integrity and putting clients first—things will keep getting worse. The mistrust will deepen. The headlines will keep coming. And no amount of slick lobbying or deregulation will save them from the rot at their core.
Because here’s what they forget in their scramble for short-term gains: the people are waking up.
We see the manipulation. We see the betrayal. And we are no longer willing to play along.
It’s Time to Turn the Tables
To every consumer reading this: don’t let them gaslight you into silence. Don’t buy the lie that justice is too expensive to pursue. And don’t wait for the system to save you—because it won’t.
Take back control. Educate yourself. Empower yourself. Demand better.
And to the firms hiding behind your lobbyists—here’s your warning: your house of cards is shaking. Trust isn’t built through deregulation. It’s built through doing the right thing, even when no one’s watching.
You want growth? Start with integrity. Until then, we’ll be here—calling you out, shining a light, and fighting for every victim you try to silence.
Because enough is enough.
NOW is the time to unmask the truth.
NOW is the time to reclaim power.
NOW is the time to make sure justice is not just a privilege—but a right.
