In today’s complex financial landscape, the need for transparent, accessible, and equitable financial planning has never been greater. At the Academy of Life Planning, we’re pioneering a transformative approach that aims to reshape the industry and contribute to a more just society. Let’s break down what this means:
What is Non-Intermediating Financial Planning?
Traditional financial planning often involves intermediaries like brokers or agents who may have vested interests. These middlemen can make the process less transparent and more costly. In contrast, non-intermediating financial planning removes these barriers, allowing for a direct, transparent relationship between the financial planner and the client. This democratises the process, making it accessible to a broader range of people.
Democratising and Decentralising Financial Planning
By removing intermediaries, we’re democratising financial planning, making it accessible to people irrespective of their socio-economic status. Decentralisation allows for more personalised, community-focused services, as we support a federation of independent, non-intermediating financial planners.
The decentralisation extends to the end customer. Here, the end customer takes ownership of and control over the placement of their own data and assets. In the spirit of GDPR the full value of data ownership and control rests with the end-user, not the institution or their intermediaries. The arrangement is fully portable for the end user, as they call all the shots. This avoids institutions and their intermediaries from locking clients into their sticky, profitable propositions!
Challenging the Status Quo
The financial industry has long been resistant to change. At the Academy, we’re not afraid to challenge these established norms. We question why things are done a certain way and explore how they could be done better to serve the greater good.
Core Values: Transparency, Integrity, and Universal Access
Transparency and integrity are non-negotiable for us. Clients should fully understand the advice they’re receiving, how it’s derived, and any associated costs. Universal access is our end goal; financial planning should be a service accessible to everyone.
Aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Our approach aims to balance financial success with social, environmental, and spiritual well-being. By adhering to these principles, we not only contribute to a more equitable society but also align perfectly with the broader objectives of the SDGs.
